I've worn the lead developer hat and managed up to four teams simultaneously, which taught me that good leadership is less about barking orders and more about clearing roadblocks so smart people can do their best work.
I'm a big believer in paying it forward through mentoring and teaching. I once took a chance on a friend who showed me some code while asking for career advice. I guided him from phone support to owning his own software company, and 15 years later, he's a seasoned developer killin' it.
At Heartland Restaurant, I was tapped to lead the intern program, and one of my interns grew into a full-fledged developer on the team after graduation and is there today. As a dad of five grown kids, I've got a knack for giving advice—knowing when to nudge gently or when it's time for a hard truth to help level someone up. I've got a long and storied track record of proven leadership.

When I'm not slinging code, I'm strumming my guitar, tossing a frisbee with my dogs, or camping under the stars in Colorado. You might also catch me hanging with the guys at my local Baptist church, where my faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior keeps me grounded.
